Stories

Everyone has a story, every story counts!

At Open Life we understand that doing life together is key to growing our relationship with Jesus.  Part of life is sharing our stories.  Maybe you will connect with one of the stories below and that will be enough for you to begin to investigate Jesus and what difference it would make for you to follow Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 2:8 (NIV)
We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you
not only the gospel of God but our lives as well,
because you had become so dear to us.

Shelly

Abused as a child, she hopped from foster home to foster home.  Lost her husband in a tragic car accident.  This led to years away from a church.  Through a direct marketing effort by Open Life she was drawn back to the church and found exactly what she was missing for the past 7 years.

Steve

Growing up more focussed on science than faith, Steve grew up in a Buddhist home and had become an agnostic over the course of his life until he found himself in church trying to understand Jesus.  One day he found himself making a decision to accept Jesus as Lord and things began to make more sense.  Life has been blessed and he discovered the reality that there was something he was missing even when life seemed to be amazing before.

Kelly

The journey of faith for her has been a long one.  She was invited by her neighbors and after a year of judging them she finally had to become open to the church they were a part of, Open Life.  They were doing things that made her question if this was really the Christians she had been hurt by for so long.  The church being present out in the community had peeked her interest and continues to draw her back.  So many people have needs and a church that is safe is so important.  You can go there, no matter your issues which have been judged before.

Elizabeth

Experienced an abusive marriage and divorce and the church she grew up in was not there for her.  She withdrew for a number of years from the church.  She thought she was too broken, and God could not use her anymore.
