Surabaya, Indonesia

Indonesia remains the world’s largest Muslim country, with more Muslims than Iran, Iraq and Egypt combined. Our partners, John & Korie Taylor, serve in the city of Surabaya, Indonesia, a city with as many people as the entire State of Washington.

Scope of Trip:

Open Life will take a team to assist with ministry in and around the campuses of ICA Surabaya in Indonesia.  The potential exists to travel to a secondary location and do missions work with an ICA missions team. This is pending planning.

Experience a service at ICA, Orphan Outreach, Ministry to those within the most vulnerable communities of Surabaya (pictured above), and more.

Duration/When:

10-14 days in Indonesia plus flights

July 22 – August 3 (depending flights)

Where:

Partnering with ICA around Surabaya

Costs:

$2,500* plus your personal costs of passport/immunizations

*this price is estimated. could go up or down based on flights, lodging, cars etc.  Additional travel outside of Surabaya would also increase cost, but not drastically as the prices are very reasonable on the ground once there.

DR Info

Berly & Jamie Bello work with the Assemblies of God and direct “National Teen Ministries” (MDA in Spanish) and “Uconexión” (Chi Alpha University Ministry) in the Dominican Republic.

Scope of Trip:

Community Service/Outreach

When teams come in the summer we partner with local churches to minister to their community. We partner with 2 – 3 different churches during the trip. First, we minister through community service projects to “Earn the Right to Be Heard”. Types of community service include painting the local basketball courts, painting houses, “diva for a day” projects (free manicures/pedicures/ haircuts), single mom’s project (time for single mom’s to connect with each other and ladies from the church while we care for their children), giving out school supplies, cleaning up garbage in the street, dental clinics, AIDS Awareness seminars, sports clinics and playing games with the youth and children in the neighborhood.

All these activities open the doors for us to be able to shift to the second ministry focus which is sharing the message of Christ through presentations of drama, testimonies, and music. We do this at the end of the community service project or later the same day in a nearby location.

Duration/When:

10 days in DR plus flights

Where:

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Costs:

Maximum 15 people

$2,100* plus your personal costs of passport/immunizations
